Chief Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the E.D. of Tennessee The Hon. Marcia Phillips Parsons visits ASL



 
On Thursday April 4th, the Hon. Marcia Phillips Parsons, Chief Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the E.D. of Tennessee spoke and answered questions in Professor Murrey’s Debtor/Creditor course. Judge Parsons has enjoyed a distinguished law career, after graduating in the top ten per cent of her class at the University of Tennessee Law School and serving as an Associate Editor of the Tennessee Law Review . She clerked for the Hon.Roger Dickson, U.S. Magistrate in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and then was employed by the Stophel, Caldwell & Heggie firm in that city and later by the Wagner, Myers & Sanger firm in Knoxville.  She was appointed a Bankruptcy Trustee in 1988, and in 1993 she was apponted by the Sixth Circuit to a seat on the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee. She became Chief Judge of that court in 2012.   In her distinguished private life,  Judge Parsons is the wife of Professor Steve Parsons.
